The seeds of inception have been planted

And the seed of the idea has officially been planted.  Today, I was given the speech that I have too many vacation days and that I should take some more vacation time...

With those words, the wheels started spinning in high gear.. With my desire to hit every continent, the first option that came to mind is a vacation to South America - Sao Paolo and Rio de Janero in Brazil, and Santiago and Valparaiso in Chile.  I have also wanted for a long time to travel Spain more thoroughly and add in Portugal (long neglected) with stops in Lisbon, Faro, Seville, Madrid, Valencia, and Ibiza.

The timeframe is likely going to be late August or early September, so right away the Spain/Portugal option seems better as it would be quite cold still in South America then, unless I delay the vacation until November/December...

I'd love to hear any suggestions, or ideas on any good events to check out in these cities, times to go, maybe other cities that I should stop off in as well...
